RC Drift QLD

Parked up @ RC Drift QLD, the details look good. A mixed street "looking" circuit...

Main run is a sweeper onto the short "straight".

With a tight entry that perfect for a backie or two.

The guys are holding some good lines.

As with any circuit the fast an slow lines exist so i think some markers for the "slow" line would help accuracy and familiarity.

Apart from that... a great track for battery drain.

RC Arlos 24KRC GR Yaris - Shoot

RC Arlos GR Yaris on deck. I am really digging the look.

Roof is carbon look, and while didnt get the exact look i was after is still good. short overhang means chase cars beware of walls. . you can see how close it is.

I think it's probably the same as the 370z or GT86 but for transitioning chase car its shorter.

So happy with this beast. Still some details to complete.

RC Arlos 24KRC GR Yaris - Debut

RC Arlos 24KRC GR Yaris - Completed enough for a debut.

While the black rims were awesome, I had to change to the spec tyres for RC Drift QLD. wheel clearance is mm dependant.

Being night time, this also aids visibility.

Visble proximity to walls is a challenging as there is no margin for error. The YD2 ZX is pretty good.

Very happy.

RC Drift QLD is a new venue, I'll cover this in a later post. Today was about the Yaris. fun machine.

RC Arlos 24KRC GR Yaris - Build - Assembly

Debut ready... still need door handles and a few things.

So Happy I could get this mounted LOW!

Light buckets were a painters challenge.

I don't really understand when a DRL is required, that the only option is a white paint. For a $50 light bucket set, they ain't that great.

I will need lights on track and these require 3 small LED each side... Hmm. more custom.

LOW is good.

Low is good. Rear brake disks not in this picture while adjusting offset.

This picture is before mounting and small stickers as in the top picture

RC Arlos 24KRC GR Yaris - Build - Paint

RC Arlos 24KRC GR Yaris - Build - Part 2 Paint

Well you can see the colour. Tamiya PS Anodised Blue Metallic backed with White then Ultimate black

You never really know until you pull off that protective film. But thats another part to the story.

With so many detail points that are impossible to mask, the only option is to paint on the outside with black details.

As mentioned in the last post, Arlos have about 20 extra parts for this body like grills and other items. while they are nice, from 5 meters away you will not see them. so I'm skipping all that cutting and I'll do some of my own customisation.

With the main colour on , I knew the GR yaris had the forged carbon roof, so as thats a main feature, I thought I'd go with that also.

While not perfect, the old plastic wipe technique worked ok. with gun metal.

A good three hour battle with masking and painting gets you pretty far along.

far enough to see what you are dealing with.

I think there are some black rims comin onto this. to suit the other contrasts.

Stay tuned for assembly before debut at RC Drift QLD.

RC Arlos 24KRC GR Yaris - Build - Cuts

With  a new shop open in the area, Aussie Hobbies. I went for a look and found this for sale at a discount.

must have... must cut and check.

must get confused.... the body was almost too good that the detail on the throw away pieces including headlights was confusing.

Off to the website...

This body is NOT for beginners. I am quite experienced and getting the desired cuts and radius on many parts was a challenge.

but eventually I got there.

and the body sits together quite well.

test fit gets exciting.... what colour.

I was thinking about something like this... how close can RC paints get... not really.

One thing about this body is it will be expensive for the whole thing.

I got some extra parts. but while the 3d print fit is good, the finish is not up to injection molded standards.

RC Arlos 24KRC make a lot of cash on extras.

rather that provide a bag of injection moulded extras for the whole car that yokomo would charge 25$ for.

you end up with options....  that could cost well over $200 or Euro. I stopped at the essential light buckets.

Light buckets $35

rear light lenses $25

front grille upper

front grille lower

rear lower spoiler

rear upper spoiler

front emblem

fog light buckets

front canards

door handles

roof antenna

bonnet vents

front vents

rear vents

mirrors and rear camera

Sliders Regroupion

6/12 on track today. I called out the boys for a last run on the Broz big track.

A little reunion brought out the GCRCD Sliders team shells from 14/1/2017 so exactly 7 years later.

Most still with original owners.

My shell has all it's removable panels and fitting just takes removal of the upper bumper support. Back in action!

The other guys still have their mix of bumpered and bumperless S13s plus the Supra and Cefiro still looking unified

I think I need some more stickers on the rear window.

Awesome to see them all.

team grey with a splash of colour.

This was a tough choice in the beginning.

And of course there is always room for bashing.

but the 2011 servo that has suffered more hits than I care to imagine wasn't coping. We shall see.

Broz BASH.

Ive got the Fail Crew S14 pair for bashing, but in some ways they don't match.

So I bought this Kane Kaina built Chaser for some bash festing.

an interesting history on this one. but I went ahead and removed all the windows also and mounted it on the YD2 RX.  Pretty good handling.

A debut for the 86 as well as Jay'z S14.9 with 900 panels

Anyone who builds these bodies with multiple parts gets a tip of the hat.

Simple livery makes it pop and some old speedline rims I supplied finish it off nicely.

 a good session!

remember... alwasy seek permission before dooring the F out of that new pretty body. !!!!
